Case Study - Longleat
Set within 900 acres of Capability Brown landscaped parkland, Longleat House is widely regarded as one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and one of the most beautiful stately homes opens to the public.
1949 saw Longleat House opened to the public on a commercial basis - It was the first stately home to do so. 1966 then saw the next “first” when Longleat opened the first Safari Park outside of Africa.
In spite of initial concerns by local residents, the concept of a drive through safari park proved a hugely popular and forty years on, Longleat Safari Park remains one of country’s leading wildlife attractions.
As a result of the success of the BBC’s Animal Park programme, thepodfactory was commissioned to produce a series of video podcasts which take a “behind the series” look at what goes on in Longleat House and the Safari Park.
